12-13 October 2026 Bonn, Germany

The New Economies Gathering is an annual global event hosted by the funder collaborative Partners for a New Economy.

It’s the place to find and exchange ideas, real-world practices, and strategies that the new economy movement needs to rise to this critical time of disruption and possibility.

From movement leaders to researchers, funders to activists, public institutions to civil society, attendees share an unwavering commitment to build what must come next: an economic system that serves people and nature, now and for future generations.

Why are we gathering?

Turning Together, to build what comes next.

This year’s theme reflects what many of us know in our bones: in a time of conflict, polarisation, and separation, togetherness must be at the heart of our work to build fairer, resilient, regenerative economies.

What turning together means in practice, for our movement of movements, lies at the heart of this year’s gathering.

We’ll explore how to:

Turn attention to new economic ideas that can counter rising authoritarianism, inequality, and ecological breakdown.

Turn toward the fractures in our established systems and stories, to find and act on the openings for change they reveal.

Turn fragmented efforts into collective power - exploring the shared structures, resources, relationships, and mindsets that will sustain us.

What can we expect?

We’ll be guided through the two days by this year’s host, community builder and wellbeing economy advocate Thobile Chittenden. You can expect a dynamic programme designed for peer exchange, including:

  • Interactive breakouts to exchange knowledge, skills, and build partnerships, led by participants

  • Inspirational keynotes from rising star political economists and other leading voices (to be announced soon!)

  • Open space for you to set the agenda and self-organise

  • Facilitated networking to make new connections and form new alliances

  • A guided deep listening session along the Rhine River

  • Evening drinks and music

Where are we gathering?

This year we’re bringing New Economies to Bonn’s Bundeskunsthalle museum, a unique venue that acts as an international showcase for the open and inclusive concept of culture.

In October, the museum’s outdoor spaces will be filled with artworks designed for reflection and interaction, as part of Interactions, an exhibit exploring play as a route to togetherness, openness, and collective experience.

We’re bringing this spirit of play into this year’s programming - helping us to find the new perspectives, creativity, and imagination we need to turn together.
